International Women’s Day (known as "March 8" International Women’s Day or International Working Women’s Day in Mainland China [2]) is a movement to commemorate women’s rights and is set on an international holiday on March 8 each year [3]. This anniversary is also a legal holiday in many countries. Societies around the world also celebrate the important contributions made by women in the economic, political, and social fields on International Women’s Day.

The first Women's Day was held in New York on February 28, 1909 by the American Socialist Party [4]. On March 8, 1917, in Petrograd, the capital of the Russian Empire, women textile workers went on strike and marches throughout the city, which also led to the beginning of the Russian Revolution [5]; after seven days, the Russian Emperor Nicholas II abdicated. The interim government ensures that women have the right to vote[4]. In 1917, Soviet Russia designated March 8 as a national holiday. Before the official confirmation by the United Nations in 1975, this day was celebrated mainly in socialist countries.
